Deadline Dates

Deadlines are midnight Eastern Time (EST)
January 7, 2013:    Minisymposium proposals
January 28, 2013:  Abstracts for contributed and minisymposium speakers
January 28, 2013:  Full Paper Submission (Optional) for Consideration in Proceedings*

* Conference participants have the opportunity to submit a full paper for consideration in the conference proceedings. Speakers should first submit an abstract to SIAM’s Conference Management System (CMS) for inclusion in the conference schedule, as either a minisymposium or contributed participant. Secondly, speakers interested in submitting a paper for consideration for inclusion in the proceedings must submit full papers via PaperCept, Inc.

Submitting your abstract to the CMS will not automatically include your paper for consideration in the proceedings.

How to Participate

SIAM requests that individuals limit themselves to giving one talk. (This does not apply to invited plenary speakers). The co-chairs of the organizing committee may make exceptions to this request.

In addition to their abstracts, conference participants have the opportunity to submit a full paper for consideration in the conference proceedings.

You are invited to contribute a presentation for this conference in one of the following formats.

Minisymposia

A minisymposium consists of four 25-minute presentations, with an additional five minutes for discussion after each presentation. Prospective minisymposium organizers are asked to submit a proposal consisting of a title, a description (not to exceed 100 words), and a list of speakers and titles of their presentations using the Conference Management System available at:  http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=ct13

It is recommended that a minisymposium organizer make the first presentation. Each minisymposium speaker should submit a 75-word abstract. The organizing committee will referee minisymposium proposals. The number of minisymposia may be limited to retain an acceptable level of parallelism in the conference sessions.

To ensure balance, SIAM prefers that a single individual not be the organizer of more than one minisymposium.  In addition, SIAM discourages minisymposia in which most of the speakers come from the same organization or if all co-authors on the papers being presented in a minisymposium are from the same organization. SIAM also requests speakers submit only one lecture presentation for the conference, either a minisymposium or contributed lecture. Poster submissions are not restricted.

Be certain to visit http://www.siam.org/meetings/guidelines/mini_guide.php to review Guidelines for Preparing a Minisymposium Proposal.

Deadline for submission of minisymposium proposals: January 7, 2013
Deadline for submission of minisymposium speaker abstracts: January 28, 2013

Contributed Presentations in Lecture or Poster Format

Contributed presentations in lecture or poster format are invited in all areas consistent with the conference themes. For the 2013 Conference on Control and Its Applications, a lecture format involves a 25-minute oral presentation with an additional 5 minutes for discussion. The length of contributed lectures is subject to change. Additionally, SIAM requests speakers submit only one lecture presentation for the conference, either a minisymposium or contributed lecture. Poster submissions are not restricted.

A poster format involves the use of non-electronic visual aids for mounting on a 4’ x 6’ or 4’ x 8’ poster board. A poster session is two hours long.  Each contributor, either for a lecture or a poster, must submit a title and a brief abstract not to exceed 75 words.  Please submit contributed presentations in lecture or poster format using the Conference Management System available at: http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=ct13

Deadline for submission of contributed abstracts: January 28, 2013

Speakers interested in submitting a paper for the proceedings must submit an abstract to SIAM’s Conference Management System (CMS) for inclusion in the conference schedule, and also submit a full paper via PaperCept, Inc. Speakers must use the same title when submitting to the CMS and PaperCept, Inc.

Papers should have a maximum length of 8 pages (single spaced, 2 column, 10 point font, and at least 1” margin on each side.)  Authors should format their papers in LaTeX2e using the SIAM SODA macro titled “soda2e.all” at http://www.siam.org/proceedings/macros.php.
