General Information

Wireless Internet

Free wireless will be available in meeting areas. SIAM will also provide a limited number of email stations during registration hours at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center (DLCC).

The Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh Hotel and Omni William Penn Hotel offer guests complimentary high speed wireless in the lobby and guest rooms.


Membership

Join SIAM and save! SIAM members save up to $130 on full registration for the 2017 SIAM Annual Meeting (AN17), SIAM Conference on Control and Its Applications (CT17), and the SIAM Conference on Industrial and Applied Geometry (GD17).

If you are not a SIAM member at time of registering but become one after, you can apply the difference between what you paid for the conference and the member rate ($130 for a Non-Member and $65 for a Non-Member Mini Speaker/Organizer) towards a SIAM membership. After you register for the conference, contact SIAM Customer Service for details about membership or join at the registration desk at the conference. Join today or contact SIAM Customer Service.


Poster Session

The poster session is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11, 8:00 PM. Presenters should have posters up no later than 8:00 PM on Tuesday. Boards and push pins will be available to presenters beginning Sunday, July 9 at 3:00 PM. Note: Any poster presenter who fails to show and present a confirmed presentation will be billed $65 per accepted poster.


SIAM Books and Journals

Discounted books and complimentary copies of journals are available on site in the exhibit area. If a SIAM representative is not available, completed order forms and payment (credit cards preferred) may be taken to the SIAM registration desk.


Visa Information

International attendees at conferences in the US may already be aware that there have been changes to the visa program for scientific visitors, which affect even people from visa waiver countries. Learn more.

As of January 12, 2009, a valid ESTA approval is required for all Visa Waiver Program (VWP) to travel to the United States. Learn more about procedures regarding the visa waiver program as maintained by the US Department of State.


Letter of Invitation

Confirmed authors in need of a Letter of Invitation to assist in the visa application process must fill out the Letter of Invitation Request Form. Please allow three to four weeks for processing and delivery.

If you are not planning to present at the conference or are not yet an accepted author and need a letter of invitation before acceptance notifications are sent, please fill out the form AND provide the following information to [email protected]:

  • Brief curriculum vita (including your date of birth and a list of publications over the past three years.)
  • Brief statement why attending this conference would help your research and career.
  • Letter of recommendation. Have a senior person (e.g. Ph.D. advisor, head of department, president of a mathematical society) write a brief letter of recommendation on appropriate letterhead. This letter is not needed if you have a minimum of twelve entries in MathSciNet. If this is the case please state so and include your “MR Author ID” in your message to [email protected].
