Start a Chapter

SIAM student chapters exist to generate interest in applied mathematics and computational science. SIAM encourages interdisciplinary participation by students and faculty from many departments on campus, including math, applied math, mathematical sciences, statistics, computer science, engineering, economics, physics, and other sciences. The activities of student chapters can include lunch discussions about career opportunities in applied math and computational science, lectures given by guest speakers, team projects such as undergraduate competitions, social functions, and field trips to industrial laboratories or SIAM section meetings.

Why form a student chapter? You get:

  • Free SIAM Memberships for full time students at the sponsoring institution(s)
  • Funding for local activities
  • Worldwide visibility as a SIAM Chapter
  • Networking and collaboration opportunities
  • Funded participation in SIAM Annual Meetings
  • Leadership opportunities
